I sure am having some fun with this nice V500 scanner! Picture taken in 1978, film processed by me in the darkroom at work. The scanner did an excellent job of pulling out the image. This was taken with a Mamiya C220 TLR, Kodak B&W film, quite underexposed and a very thin negative.

Here is a screen shot of the no-thumbnail preview window to show you how it looks:īy the way, here is the result of this scan - my wife's cat Fritz in a showdown with a neighbor cat. This would be a nice feature if you were using 120 film with a home-made pinhole camera, or other odd project which does not yield standard frame dimensions. You can use the marquee tool to select your picture. Sliding it down a couple of millimeters to expose the unexposed edge caused it to properly register the frames.Īlternatively, you can un-check the "thumbnail" box at the bottom of the main scanner panel window, in which case the preview window will not show the individual frames, but will show the whole film strip. I had a couple of instances where the film did not frame properly in the preview window, and I found that I had the exposed part of the negative right up to the edge of the film holder so that no clear unexposed space was visible to the scanner. However, I did find one minor trick: If it does not "catch" the first negative, you may need to slide it down a little bit so that some clear space on the negative is visible to the scanner just before it hits the exposed part of the film. In general, it should work with these settings. In the configuration window, select the film size tab and set it to the correct size.

In the main scanner panel, click on the "Configuration" button (notice that I am in Professional mode at the top - I've not even tried the other modes yet).

I'm running version 3.24 of the software - maybe this makes a difference if you are not running the latest version: I was trying to describe it based on a weak memory - I just got my V500 on Christmas, so have not used it enough to remember it very well. The only way to show the whole strip is take it out of "thumbnail" preview but then it scans the whole negative strip holder, but shows no film.Greetings, There is no setting to adjust format/aspect ratio. It has Preview and adjust film size, ie, 6x4.5, 6圆, etc and I've tried each of those settings and none of those settings changed anything.
